In many cases, a lingering sulphur (rotten eggs) or ammonia like smell can be an indicator of contaminated drywall. However, in some cases there is no specific smell. You cannot determine if the drywall contains elements of a toxic manner by smell alone.
Contaminated drywall can also causes corrosion of electrical wiring and plumbing. If the copper tubes in your walls are blackened, it can be a sign of contaminated drywall. Lights randomly flickering, discolored electrical plates, circuit breakers that need to be regularly reset, buzzing electrical sounds coming from electric sockets are all possible symptoms of corrosion caused by contaminated drywall.
The best way to find out if you're exposed to contaminated drywall is to get your structure tested. Our specialists will come to you, test for contaminated drywall with industry standard equipment. We'll provide you all documentation as well as a findings report.
